Here's the deal. I love this quilt.
Alot of people love this quilt.
It's a classic. Red. White. Scrappy. What's not to love about that? And let's not forget that Christmas is right around the corner. This is a perfect (and easy!) Christmas quilt. You need one. I need one.
Let's all make one!
It's the Red and White Snowball Challenge.
Nicole, from SistersChoice also loves this quilt. As much as I do. So we're going to each make one. And we were chatting and thought it would be even more fun to issue a challenge and invite others to make one with us. And to make things even more fun and scrappy, let's have a little fabric swap too.
So, here's the nitty gritty. The pattern is called Leftovers Again and can be found in this book, which most of us have. If not, you should ask Santa for it. It's that good.
You can choose to make your quilt as big or small as you want. Or as time permits. Heck, make a table runner even. Those who have theirs finished and posted by the end of January will be entered into a drawing for a basket of mack-daddy good stuff. We'll also have in-progress giveaways along the way.
If you'd like to participate, leave a comment on this post please.
Now, for the fabric swap. Fabric swaps are so much fun and a great way to add to the scrappiness of your quilt. There is so much variance in reds, and most of us are rather particular about which reds we like and which we don't like. So let's swap lights - creams, light tans, off-whites.
If you'd like to participate in the swap, please shoot me an email with your name and snail mail address. I will compile the list of emails and, in turn, send it out to each person participating. Then, here's the fun part...each of us will mail THREE 4" strips (width of fabric, each a different print) to each person on the list. Example: if there are six quilters participating, you will mail three strips to each of the five other participants. Don't mail any to yourself. And you will receive three strips from the five others as well, resulting in fifteen 4" strips of different lights to add to your scrap pile. My super secret email for this project is Skagwayquilts at hotmail dot com. To participate in the fabric swap, please email me your name and address by TUESDAY, October 27. Yep, that's right around the corner, but we want to make this FAST so we can spend more time sewing.
Ready! Set! SEW!
My first challenge and I am excited. Ordered the fabric from Fabric. com, ordered the book from Amazon and now I am ready. BUT I don't have a blog so does that matter? I can barely send pictures via internet because I am computer challenged! It will be fun anyway. Thanks so very much.

Wish I could join but alas the book is not in my stash. I'm on a "buying diet". I'll be watching the progress though ... beautiful quilt.

Maybe in, but def on the fabric swap! I don't have the book but will look for it. Does the quilt have borders or is it just the alternating snowball blocks? Love it!

I ordered the book. Not sure if I can finish by the end of January, but I need to make a quilt for niece's HS grad. This may be it. That would probably have to be in pink, or pink and red!

I'm in. I know I have this book in one of the many boxes packed away in the garage, but I ordered it because I didn't feel like digging through that mess. I have plenty of reds and creams, whites, etc. I can't wait to get the book and get started!!!
