I didn't go to Chicago. (more on that later)
But about four days later, I did go on a trip. Some friends who come up to Skagway in the summers were headed back down South to Utah and I stowed away and went with them.
That's how long it takes to drive from Alaska, across Canada and down to Utah when you drive really slow. We drove really slow, because it was snowing, and there were very large, ominous buffalo in the middle of the highway. Along with some elk, caribou and lots and lots of deer. It was an adventure for sure.
And it sure was beautiful. The fall colors were gorgeous, often laced in snow. I couldn't get enough if it, clicking pictures like no tomorrow. And in my never-ending quest for funny signs, we may have taken small detours here and there to visit fun places like....
And my very favorite of them all, in honor of our favorite quilter....
That was in the Big Mall in Edmonton - the West Edmonton Mall. Have you ever been? Oh. My. Gosh. It really IS a big mall, the 5th largest in the world, and the largest in North America. It has everything you can imagine: an underground aquarium, the world's largest indoor water park, a Pirate Ship, submarines, an ice-skating rink, an amusement park, and over 200 stores. We even watched a sea lion show.
Really, does it get any more fun than that?
Hi ya A! Hey did U get the pattern?

WOW! I've never seen such a thing like that crazy mall. And I even live in a really big city!
However, I'll take the gorgeous trees on the highway with buffalo and caribu and deer any time over city life. You lucky gal! Lots of color inspiration in that drive, eh??

I've been following your blog for a while, but just put it together that you probably know my daughter, Alisa Lybbert, who is living with us in Utah (plus her DH and three little children), Northstar Treasures formerly in Skagway. I am a quilter too. Love your quilts, and your beautiful photos of Alaska, BC, wherever...
